#9 My First USC Game at the Coliseum

Saturday November 27th started out sunny and bright with excitement in the air. We got up, put our jeans and jerseys on, grabbed our sweatshirts and tickets to the game. We took some pictures with the girls, then headed out to meet up with friends. We had 4 hours of tailgating ahead of us, followed by the USC vs Notre Dame game. Dominic was a team manager when he went to school at USC, but had never been a spectator for one of the games, and I had never seen them play in person at all.

Our seats were near the 30 yard line, row 58. Row 59 had some fans directly behind us that had an opinion - which they felt the need to share loudly - on every single play.

Tailgating outside the stadium.

Tony and Dominic on the way in.

Our first view of the field when we came out of the tunnel.

Dominic and I before the game.

Opening kickoff by Notre Dame in front of 85,417 fans.

USC scored the first 3 points with a field goal - a relatively long one for how bad our kicker is.

Half time. The game was tied 13 all. Tommy Trojan led the band onto the field.

Just me. We went to get some snacks during the half, and when we got back to our seats it was starting to rain. It was light at first, but eventually just poured. We were soaked! We stayed until the very end, which is more than I can say for many of the "fair weather fans" in LA.

As if the rain wasn't bad enough, USC lost to Notre Dame for the first time since 2001! Grrr! The final score was 20-16 and there were few plays worth mentioning as both teams played equally bad most of the game.

The night wasn't completely lost, as we walked out of the stadium to the smell of bacon-wrapped hot dogs, peppers and onions. Dominic has been telling me about these for years, and I finally had a chance to try one. It absolutely lived up to the hype! It was hot (hence the face), messy and delicious!

Overall, I had fun going to the game despite the rain. It was great to have some time with Dominic doing what he loves most in the fall. Thankfully the girls stayed dry at Abuelo's house this time!
