Halloween Fun

The girls had an awesome Halloween this year, despite having just moved and not knowing anyone. We were able to meet some of our neighbors when we were unloading the moving truck on Friday, so they told us about the neighborhood Halloween parade. It was definitely one of the coolest things I've seen for Halloween. The parade started at 4pm, and went all around the neighborhood. People came outside to wave and cheer in front of their houses as all the kids walked by in their costumes.

Even though Audrey isn't smiling here, both of the girls really enjoyed the parade.

The parade ended at this Victorian house that was built in 1907. The homeowners really get into the spirit and bring the community together. They had lemonade, cookies and other treats, even an old fashioned popcorn popper. It was a great way to meet lots of our neighbors.

Once the festivities came to an end, we had about an hour before it was time to go trick or treating. So we went to grab some dinner. Then we met back up to go with some of our neighbors.

Eliza had so much fun running along from house to house. We had been trick or treating before, but she probably doesn't remember since she was 2 and we didn't stay out long. Last year we had so many other Halloween activities with our mommy groups, that we didn't need any more candy by the time Halloween came around.

Yes - there's a castle in our neighborhood, moat and all. Note to self: if you live in a house that looks like a castle, there's no way you can get out of decorating for Halloween - or any other holidays for that matter.

After the first few houses (which Audrey tried to go inside, like we were visiting), Audrey figured it all out. It wasn't long before she was running to keep up with the bigger kids. We tried to skip a house here and there when she was behind, but she would have none of that. By the end of the night, she was practically dragging her bag of candy. It was heavy! When I emptied it the next morning, there was the start of a tiny hole, so its a good thing we quit when we did.

Lots of houses went all out with decorations, which made for some great pictures.

When we got back to our house, Dominic had to leave for LA. He had packed before the parade so he could get right on the road. Both of the girls had dug into their candy right away, so he got lots of choclately kisses before he left.
