A Morning at The Grand Canyon

"Do nothing to mar its grandeur for the ages have been at work on it and man cannot improve it. Keep it for your children, your children's children, and all who come after you."
Theodore Roosevelt

We went back to the Grand Canyon on Wednesday morning around 8:45. It was a cold 36 degrees outside and there was frost on the car when we got in. Brrrr!

We were on the South Rim of the canyon, and kept to the Rim Trail, which was paved and probably the most kid friendly.

Stopped to take pictures at the entrance to the park. Luckily this is a popular place to stop, and we were able to rely on the kindness of strangers for this family photo.

These first two pictures were taken near Mather Point.

We mostly stayed on the paved trail, but this nice big flat opening seemed safe enough with Audrey in the stroller and Dominic holding on tightly to both of them.

Poor Audrey was so cold, so we carried her some of the way just to keep her warm.

Eliza was so excited to use the binoculars at the Yavapai Observation Station.

Then she helped Audrey with them.

The lighting wasn't great in the building, but we couldn't very well stick them out on the side by themselves just for the sake of a picture.

At least it was warmer inside, and the girls had fun exploring the exhibits.

Eliza waving - though it looks like she's saying "no pictures please."

Precious Daddy, Daughter moment

It was such a beautiful morning. We only stayed for a few hours since the girls are still too little to go hiking down into the canyon or anything. It was perfect for our first visit. The vastness and splendor are, at the very least, amazing. I hope one day to go back and be awed by it again.
