The Trip to San Diego - Day 2 (Part 1)

We started day 2 by giving the girls some new finger puppets I had picked up before we left. Audrey is really into animal noises and they had fun playing with them for a while.

We crossed the border into Arizona in the afternoon. Eliza was asleep and Audrey was watching the movie Cars.

We began seeing lots of signs for Stewart's Petrified Wood. We figured it must be a pretty big place that is a common travel stop, so we turned off the exit in hopes of a bathroom and to stretch our legs...

It was disappointing to say the least. No bathroom or anywhere to change Audrey's diaper. It was a small building that had lots of overpriced stuff for sale, and some bizarre sculptures outside - the main one being a huge Godzilla with a person dangling from its mouth.

We did see some ostriches...

and petrified wood that is supposedly from just outside the petrified forest.

I guess you never know what you'll see when you're on an adventure!
