Soaking Up The Sun

I usually start my posts with pictures of the girls and leave the shells, creatures, and the like for later, or the end of it... but today I found my first sand dollar ever! I remember going to the beach with my family when I was younger and always searching for sand dollars, shark teeth and other treasures from the sea. My parents would swim out to the sand bar past the shallows of the ocean and find lots and lots of sand dollars, but I was too small. I had of course found bits and pieces of sand dollars, but never a whole one. So I was ecstatic about my find today...

the treasure.

Eliza was so excited to be at the beach! She loves playing in the sand, splashing in the water, and searching for treasures.

Dominic and Audrey playing in the sand.

Eliza came back to steal Daddy from Audrey to splash in the water with her.

Audrey was literally picking up sand and rubbing it all over her legs and arms! For a girl who doesn't like to BE dirty, she sure likes to GET dirty!

"Ut-oh Mommy, my hands."

Eliza decided we should dig a pool for all of us to jump in.

Dom broke our big new bucket (shh don't tell him I know) trying to scoop the sand. So he resorted to digging with his hands instead.

The girls helped him some.

When it was finished, they had fun jumping in the water and splashing each other.

Audrey's turn.

Later, we made a drip wall all the way around it and decorated the whole thing with shells. Eliza thought it was beautiful and hopes it will be there next time we go... oh boy.

After digging the pool, Eliza spent most of the day in the water jumping, splashing and looking for shells.

She was in heaven! Eliza will definitely be my beach babe. Audrey is scared of the "waterfalls" as she calls the waves coming in.

Eliza showing me some seaweed.

We went for a walk down the beach before we left. Audrey and Dominic stayed out away from the waves.

Of course, Eliza was right in them and not caring about how cold the water was.

Walking back towards our towels.

We headed to the car and did our best to brush the sand off of the girls before putting them in the carseats. Eliza was completely soaked, having fallen in the waves. Anyone who knows her, knows that she is pretty clumsy, but lets be honest - falling in was her favorite part anyway! She ended up riding home with just a towel. I don't know what I was thinking, going to the beach without extra clothes for everyone! We had a fun time and the girls are sure going to sleep well tonight!
