What a fun filled day we had for St. Pat's! We started the day with a party at the park with our playgroup. Everyone wore green and brought green food to share. The kids ate, played, did a rainbow craft, and went exploring around the park. What better way to spend this green day than out in nature?
Eliza and Audrey on the dinosaur at the playground. One of the only pictures I got of them together besides when they were eating.
Audrey had fun going down the slide over and over. I'm so happy that she has moved on from needing me to go with her or hold her hand. She loves it!
Eliza enjoying some of the Pistachio Cake that I made.
Then we went on a nature walk and a bug hunt.
Eliza and Brooke running across the bridge to look for bugs.
The kids had so much fun hunting bugs. They found lots of rolly pollies and put a few in Eliza's bug house.
Audrey caught a tiny flying bug.
Then she moved on to checking out the water and flowers around the area.
We headed back to the pavilion where Brooke and Eliza watched the bugs crawling and climbing around. Eventually someone let them out, so I didn't have to worry about Eliza doing it in the car on the way home.
Audrey playing peek-a-boo before we left.
Eliza with the rainbow she made of fruit loops.
We headed home and put Audrey down for a nap. Then it was time to head over to the Junior Theater at Balboa Park. Our friend Fiona was in the play Beauty and the Beast and had invited us to come see it.
We had some time when we got there, so we went exploring new areas of the park. There was this huge tree with a "cave" over in the cactus garden.
Audrey couldn't resist going inside. There was a "window" on the other side that she peeked out too.
Eliza had her Belle doll with her for the play. She really enjoyed it. Audrey loved the music and clapped a lot too. Fiona was the Enchantress that turned the prince into the beast.
Anika waving to her sister Fiona during the play.
When the play was over, we all went to give Fiona hugs and tell her how great she did.
Anika, Audrey, Fiona and Eliza
They all ran around and played outside for a while.

Then it was time to say goodbye and head home for dinner.
We had such a great day! The girls have no idea what St. Patrick's Day is all about, but we can work on that for next year I guess. Eliza seems to think its Uncle Patrick's birthday, which makes total sense considering she's only 4.

Miss these girls bunches and bunches! ~Matilda
