We have been planning a fairy garden for the past few weeks and gathering little odds and ends when we see them. We found little birdhouses, a pinwheel, butterfly and bird stakes, and even some wildflower seeds in the dollar bins at Target. I had the large green tub from Matilda's wedding, so Dominic drilled holes in it for draining purposes, and we bought some soil. Audrey went down for her nap after lunch, so Eliza and I went to work.
First we put some large rocks from our canyon in the bottom of the tub to help with draining. Then I filled it with soil and we began placing the houses, pinwheel, and little plastic hearts as a walkway. Eliza dug a hole to plant the first seeds on one side of the hearts - my friend Laurie helped Eliza get these seeds from some flowers in her front yard.
She placed them in the hole, covered them with soil, and patted it down nicely. What a pro!
She repeated the process on the right side of the path with the wildflower seeds.
Then she added the finishing touches. She put each of the butterfly stakes in, next to the house of the same color.
We also had a few pots to plant some herbs and more wildflowers in. Eliza had picked these sunflower seeds out herself.
So she filled this red planter with soil, added the seeds, and covered them with more soil.
When we had finished planting everything, Eliza carefully watered her fairy garden and sunflowers - yes that's a teapot.
All finished. Please pray that Eliza's apparent green thumb helps these plants to survive and not my totally un-green one. She has already been talking to the seeds and telling them its ok to grow and grow!
Hey glad to know you got that from my wedding...I wasn't even missing it until now! HaHa
