Lupe came down last night to babysit so Dom and I could have a date night. It was so nice! We started in the afternoon by going to get our haircut together at Floyd's in downtown. Then we came home and changed for dinner. We had a gift card for The Butcher Shop Steakhouse. We both had delicious steaks. After dinner we drove over to La Jolla to The Comedy Store and saw some hilarious comedians. We topped off the night with a quick stop at Yogurtland - Mmmmm!
This morning when we all got up and ready, we decided to go check out Balboa Park. It is so huge that we weren't sure where to start, so we looked online for a playground. We went to the Pepper Grove Playground just south of the science center.
Eliza was excited as soon as we got there because of all the animals to climb on.
Audrey had a ton of fun on the swings while Mamaloop pushed her.
She liked this tire to climb through as well.
Eliza liked showing off on the slide by going down it on her belly, backwards, etc.
We all watched and clapped for her.
We took a minute to check out a drummer near the playground before going to explore other areas of the park.
Audrey was starting to get tired, but kept going the whole time.
Eliza posing on this bench made from a tree trunk.
Both girls loved the butterflies and caterpillars on this wall. They were pretending to fly.
We stopped to grab a lemonade, then headed up to check out the big fountain. Eliza walked on the side of this little waterfall like a balance beam - while holding Daddy's hand just in case.
Mamaloop and the girls at the fountain.
Then Mamaloop took a few pictures of all of us - Audrey had no interest in smiling, or taking her fingers out of her mouth.
Me and my sleepyhead.
Mamaloop and Eliza checking out the fish and making a wish.
Dominic helped Eliza up to reach the rosemary so she could smell it the way Nana had shown her.
Audrey figured that meant that she could touch too.
Audrey and I - Eliza didn't want to be in anymore pictures.
So Dominic and I posed by ourselves.
It was a beautiful day! Audrey fell asleep as soon as we got on the road.
