Today the girls and I met up with some friends from our moms group at Mission Beach. It was such a beautiful day! Surprisingly, the beach wasn't crowded at all and we had no trouble finding a parking spot or place to set our towels. The tide went out while we were there so the kids all played in some pools that had been dug about a foot deep. The waves weren't coming in, so even Audrey wasn't scared to splash there.
Eliza wasted no time getting all wet by sitting right down in the little pool.
Audrey just checking out the big, blue ocean and all the sand.
Once she found sand toys to play with, she had fun.
She liked sitting right on the edge of the pool and splashing.
Eliza was running back and forth between the pool and the small waves coming in. Our friend Dylan and another little boy there, were running between the two areas as well and jumping into the little pool with a big splash.
Audrey had fun digging her fingers into the wet sand.
Audrey was soooo slow in the dry sand!
Heading back to the towels for a quick snack.
Both of them were trying to figure out what to do about all the sand. They didn't seem to care when it got all into their snack and they were eating as much sand as they were food.
On the way back towards the water we found a crab shell. It was so fragile like an egg shell, and this piece in Eliza's hand was only a small part of it. Later we found some bigger ones and even some claws. Laurie caught a live sand crab in one of the kids buckets and showed all the kids how it burrowed down into the sand.
Eliza was excited to build some sand castles, and she was making a "drip castle" here.
Starting over on the drip castle after it was smashed.
We all had so much fun!
Eliza gave up on the castles and started running back and forth again.
Just splashing and playing. We found a couple nice shells to bring home with us before we left.
This one big seagull kept getting into people's bags! This was our stuff, which he found some cheerios in. We also saw some dolphins swimming out past some of the waves just before we left!
Great morning! Audrey fell asleep on the way home - with her sunglasses on. I think we brought most of the beach home with us, and fear that I will be cleaning up sand for the next few weeks!
