A New Beginning

Well, the day finally came. My little princess started preschool yesterday. I can't believe how grown up she looked as she excitedly got ready and headed out the door. She was singing a song about getting ready for school while she was getting dressed and putting her socks and shoes on. For once, she let me brush her hair and put a clip in it with no tears. She was even too excited to eat her breakfast.

My big girl, all ready to go. She couldn't really carry her bag because it's too big and doesn't have shoulder straps like a backpack. It wasn't very heavy.

Daddy went with us to drop her off and she held his hand on the way in.

We even ran into our friend Isabelle on the way in. She is in our playgroup and happens to be in the class across the hall from Eliza.

Once Eliza turned her name card from red to green indicating she was there, she found her seat and grabbed a marker. She had to get back up for a picture with her teacher, Miss Lisa. I gave her a quick kiss good bye and we were off.

I figured it was as good a time as any to make a fresh start for myself as well. So Audrey and I went to the park to get some exercise by walking the trail, and of course playing on the playground. I felt pretty good about my walk. I kept a good pace and did 3 laps around, though I have no idea what the mileage was. My arms were more sore later from pushing the stroller than my legs.

When we first arrived at the playground, I saw this leaf that popped out at me among all the others. It was such a perfect symbol of God's love and it made me feel like I had made some good decisions, both in choosing Eliza's school, and making an effort to get into shape myself.

This was our first time going to Allan Saxe park, which is pretty close to our house. Audrey had a blast! She climbed up the steps, went down the slide, and did it all over again and again.

She took a break from sliding long enough to check out the loch ness monster, which is what caught my eye when driving past this park during our move.

Then went back and tried out the tunnel slide over and over before we headed home.

After her nap, Audrey got the cowgirl hats out of the dress up clothes - hats is plural because she brought one for me to wear as well. Then she got out her favorite book and we sat and read. She kept getting book after book and bringing them to sit next to me and read. It was so nice.

Eliza had a lot of fun at school. She told me about coloring, playing outside, stretching, and reading a book about sharks. She did say that she cried, but from what I could figure out from the rest of the conversation, I think it was because she didn't want to lie down for nap time. Audrey had definitely missed Eliza and was very excited to see her again. In fact, she wouldn't leave her alone. Eliza had a full day of fun at school and was a little grumpy after the excitement wore off so she didn't want to play with Audrey. We finished the day off at Bible study at the Alfords and we were all tired when we got home.
