A Magical Night

The pure innocence of children is so awesome. Tonight we went to a magic show and Eliza's complete belief in magic was so amazing. After some of the illusions, I would ask Eliza "how did he do that?" Eliza's answer throughout the entire show was simply, "magic!" The sheer awe that she was feeling, showed all over her face. The show was a little over an hour, and Eliza was so alert for the entire thing. Audrey clapped and cheered a lot in the beginning, but eventually just watched more silently as her eyes grew heavier. It was such a great family experience!

Before the show, there were balloons, face painting and some magicians doing simple tricks in the lobby. Eliza could not be talked into a pretty flower or dog, but insisted on a yellow balloon sword. Audrey had a simple heart, which she then used as a sword and kept hitting Eliza with it until the stick broke.

 

We went in and found seats about three rows from the front. We were right in the middle of the auditorium and could see the entire stage perfectly. The excitement grew as more people began to come in and take their seats as well.

Magician Bruce Chadwick. He was pretty funny and the show had a nice flow. Eliza was a little disappointed that he didn't call on her to volunteer. The illusion with the 'guillotine' scared her a little bit, but besides that she was smiling, laughing and clapping the whole time.

Audrey was ready for bed and fell asleep a few minutes into our drive home. Eliza said she wasn't sleepy, but she was almost asleep when we pulled into the driveway. It was well worth the late bedtime to see the awe and excitement on their faces.
