The Return of the Red Dress and Zoo Play Days

Well, I pulled out THE red dress with spots (See post HERE) from storage, and Audrey wore it today.  Eliza immediately recognized it, and seemed happy to see it.  She wasn't upset at all, and told Audrey all about how she used to wear that dress.

Then we went to the zoo for the Spring Play Days.  It was the busiest I've ever seen the zoo, lines to get in were ridiculous, but the girls really wanted to go today.  At least the crowds were more spread out once we got inside.  We only saw a few animals before the girls were overcome with hunger (Ha!).  We sat down to eat the lunch I'd packed, and we got an ICEE at one of the snack carts.  It was such a yummy treat for all of us!

After lunch, the jaguar on the way to Elephant Odyssey was really close and posing for lots of pictures.

The girls with Churchill P. Bear.  This polar bear was hanging out in the Elephant Odyssey area.  We watched the elephants for a while, checked out the lions, and moved on to the real polar bears.

 

We got to see them having snacks (one of our favorite Play Days from last spring).  The female went first since she's "the Boss!"  She ate lots of fruits and veggies, and some spoonfuls of peanut butter.

Then her mate got a turn.  He started with his favorite snack - frozen crickets by the spoonful!  Then he had some lettuce too.

The girls with Bamboo the panda bear.  She was hanging out on the far side of the polar bear exhibit.  Audrey ran up and gave her a big hug!

We walked down through Raptor Canyon, watched a very active river otter, peeked in on Otis the male hippo, and checked out the tigers.  Then we got to one of the girls' favorite exhibits - turtles and crocodiles in the Lost Forest.  We watched them for at least 15 minutes.

Eliza was the first to notice there was a new species of turtles in the exhibit.  They were really cool!

Audrey - seems like the red dress made Eliza's goofiness rub off on her.  She was posing for pictures and being silly just like Eliza has always done.  It was so cute!
