Happy Fools Day!

Dominic finally came home today after 2 long weeks.  We were all anxious to see him.  I told the girls that today was April Fools Day, and that we should play a little trick on Daddy when he got home.  We did some brainstorming - tell him we all got our hair cut really short, tell him the fish grew ten legs while he was gone, tell him the fish grew hair...  Eliza was all about fish ideas.  Then we went to Target while we were still thinking about it.  In the toy aisle, I decided to buy some little nerf dart guns.

 

The girls decided they wanted to be superheroes, so they rushed to the dress up chest to find their capes when we got home.  Then they took turns watching for Daddy's car to pull up.

We picked some hiding spots, and got our dart guns ready.

Eliza was behind the wall separating the living room from the dining room.

Audrey was all ready, behind the arm of the couch.

Of course we gave Daddy a gun too...

We just didn't put any darts in his.  What kind of April Fools joke would it be otherwise?

When he came in the front door, Audrey jumped up from her hiding spot.

She stepped out from behind the couch to give herself a better aim, and the battle began...

Eliza came at him from the side, while I shot here and there in between snapping pics.

The girls had so much fun - laughing, screaming, shooting...
When Daddy picked up his gun and tried to shoot back, we all yelled "April Fools!"  Eliza kept saying "Happy Fools Day" though, so I'm not sure which one she said when the time came.
