"Working" at the Beach

On Saturdays, Dom has to go into the office in the morning for a couple hours, then he comes home to spend the day with us.  He usually has to go back to the office again around 5:00 to close up, but since it was a holiday weekend, he had the guys meet at the beach after work instead.  He settled up all the business, and then everyone just relaxed, played some volleyball, threw the football, or whatever.  The girls and I were happy to go with him to "work" and have some beach fun too.

Audrey is excited to go to the beach now that she knows how much fun it is to play in the sand.  She is still scared of the water, but we're past the absolute refusal to step foot on the beach.

Eliza loves every bit of it.

Daddy and Eliza running towards the water to fill the buckets.

Audrey watching and waiting for her bucket of water.

Eliza and Daddy, buckets in hand, waves crashing in behind them.

Probably the closest Audrey has been to the water without running away.

The girls were having fun dumping water onto the sand, then sending Daddy to go get more water.

Eliza and I went "swimming" in the ocean for the first time since we moved here.  We had splashed and kicked in the waves a bit before, but we were really in there this time.  It was awesome!  There were some really big waves that almost knocked me over a couple times.  I held onto Eliza and she loved letting her legs float forward with each wave.

The girls love James!  He moved from Texas to work in the office with Dom.  When he got to the beach, Audrey ran right over to him and he picked her up over his head.  She was so happy to see him.

Audrey loved the volleyball.

We stayed past sunset, dinnertime, and even bedtime for the girls.  We were all having such a great time that we didn't care.  We grabbed some dinner on the way home, gave the girls baths to get all the sand off, and put them to bed at nearly 10:00.  They even slept in this morning until 7:30 - ha!
