Happy 4th of July!

We had a busy, fun-filled 4th of July this year.  As soon as we woke up, we were hustling around getting ready, packing lunch, decorating our stroller.  Dom made egg sandwiches for breakfast, and we walked a few blocks to get ready for the neighborhood parade.

The girls had fun shaking their tambourine and maracas, while I pushed Audrey in the stroller.

Though, it was a simple neighborhood parade for the kids, there was a police car and a firetruck!

Afterwards, the girls got to sit in the firetruck for pictures.

They were excited about their new fireman hats too.

We began and ended the parade at the same house we went for HALLOWEEN.  The girls had fun around the fountain again, while we chatted with some of our neighbors.

Then we walked around the corner to where the rest of the days activities were to be held.  The water slide was being set up, and Eliza wasted no time getting ready for it.

She went up and down over and over for a couple hours!  There were lots of kids around her age.  She made friends with a little boy, and they kept going down together, holding hands - Yikes!

Daddy took Audrey on the slide a couple times, but she wasn't really into it.

She was happy to sit in her pink chair and eat her lunch instead.
We were going to head home and get naps in before the cocktail hour and dinner, but just then, someone brought out a kiddie pool.

Audrey was so happy to splash and play in the water!

Her, Anika, and another little girl around their age had so much fun getting in and out, jumping, and splashing.

We did eventually go home and put the girls down for a nap.  They both went to sleep as soon as we got their swimsuits off, and tucked them into bed.  Just before 5:00, we drove back over to join in the fun again.

There was so much delicious food at the potluck dinner - pulled pork, deviled eggs, enchiladas, beans, rice, a great variety of salads, and tons of desserts.  I think Audrey only ate her cupcake and a cookie.  Eliza did at least eat some beans before her cupcake.  Oh well, it was a holiday after all.

The girls both had fun running around with all the neighborhood kids, and coloring on the street with sidewalk chalk.  They were covered in chalk from head to toe!

Audrey even laid down so Anika could trace her.

Around 8:00, we cleaned up, and headed out to catch the fireworks at nearby Lake Murray...

The girls hadn't really been to fireworks before.  Eliza went when she was a baby, and once with our family in Ohio when she wasn't quite 2, but she doesn't remember.  They loved them!

They were on a blanket in front of Dom and I watching and enjoying.

Just before the end, Audrey climbed up on Daddy's lap to watch with him.

Eliza was too enthralled to even notice.  They lit up the field we were sitting in, in shades of red, white and blue.

What a beautiful end, to a wonderful day!
