Today was the 156th birthday for the Old Point Loma Lighthouse. This is one of the 2 times a year that they open the lighthouse tower for visitor's to go all the way up. Audrey and I met our friends, waited in line for over an hour (didn't plan for that), and went in to check out the view.
Audrey seemed to enjoy it, despite the long wait. She did pretty well waiting too.
We entered through the basement and got the full tour. The volunteers were dressed up in period clothing and acting the part. The kids were happy to be inside, and the basement "play room" was a great starting point. They got to color on the little chalkboards...
Audrey had fun sweeping the floor with the little broom - which came in handy after she pulled the drawer full of ground coffee out and spilled it all over.
We worked our way up to see the kitchen, parlor, bedrooms, and finally the light at the top. It was pretty windy, but the clear skies made for beautiful views all around.
When we came back down, we explored a bit more and took some pictures. Then we headed out to grab lunch before we had to pick up Eliza from school.
This awesome sailboat went past us and headed into the bay.
