Mom and Dad's last day here was Saturday February 5th. Dad and Dominic went golfing, Mom and I took the girls to ride the trolley in Balboa Park and then headed over to Coronado.
#20 Ride the Trolley
Audrey and I
Eliza and Mom
We had hot dogs for lunch and just walked around the park for a while. Eliza liked playing hide and seek behind this big palm frond.
Audrey wanted to check out the pretty flowers.
Playing peek-a-boo behind the tree while we were waiting on the trolley.
We rode the trolley back to our car, then drove over to Coronado.
Some views from the bridge.
We walked around and checked out some of the shops. I bought the girls some sweatshirts. Then we decided to check out the beach and the sand dunes by the Hotel Del Coronado, which had opened in 1888.
Eliza rushed right out towards the water to get her feet wet.
Audrey shuffled along over the sand and shells more cautiously.
My girls
Eliza - my beach baby, not worried about sand on her fingers and toes.
Audrey - can't resist the urge to play in the sand, but constantly concerned about having it everywhere.
Exploring around the rocks.
Heading up the beach, checking everything out along the way. The famous hotel made the perfect backdrop for our day on this beautiful beach.
Still slowly making her way behind the rest of us.
Check out this awesome sand castle! Audrey wanted to touch it, so we had to move on quickly.
The sand dunes.
Eliza was off and running as usual, Audrey was trying so hard to keep up.
Mom and the girls.
Eliza liked checking out all the plants as much as she liked running up and down the dunes.
Eliza dancing around.
Audrey marching up the dunes, then shuffling her feet down into the sand on the way down.
I took these pictures directly into the sun so they ended up looking like nighttime. Still pretty cool I thought.
We went back home to meet up with Dad and Dominic for dinner. After a quick change of clothes, we were off again. We had dinner at Anthony's Fish Grotto right on the water at the harbor. It was delicious! Dom and I both had lobster and steak! The girls were excited that their grilled cheese and fruit came out on plates shaped like fish. We sat next to a window and were able to see some small boats coming in and out of the harbor.
Mom, Dad, Eliza and Audrey at the harbor. The restaurant is on the right in the background.
It was another great day, and a terrific end to the week. I was so happy to have Mom and Dad here to see our new home, celebrate my birthday, and just explore San Diego with us. Can't wait to have more visitors to explore with!
