You know that feeling when you get back from vacation, and realize you need a vacation at home before you get back into the swing of things? Well, I had that feeling and chose to completely ignore it. We have been having so much fun this month that I haven't had time to post, so here's a quick wrap up.
We went to the Living Coast Discovery Center with some friends during Shark Week. There were some baby sharks on display, lots of shark crafts and story times, we got to touch a horn shark egg case, and we finally saw them feed the sharks and rays.
The end of the Summer Reading Program was an interactive Mad Science show. The girls both won a stuffed Hooey bird in the raffle, and we had fun exploring the Mission Trails Visitor's Center afterwards.
We just happened to be at the zoo for our monthly meetup on Polly Day. The kids all got Polly Pocket dolls, a DVD, and sunglasses. Eliza loves Polly now - conveniently her birthday is this weekend, so she asked for some Polly Pocket stuff.
This is Kathryn.
In addition to all these activities, I have started watching her 3 days a week for a few hours. She is such an angel, and its been great so far. Since you know me so well, and how much I am out and about with my girls, the plan is to continue with the fun playgroup activities with Kathryn too. The zoo was our first "outing" together, and though it was crazy busy, it went well. She was all smiles, and my girls and I all had fun too! Once school starts, it will just be Audrey and Kathryn most of the time, and lucky for me, my car fits 3 car seats.
One evening, we let the girls stay up late and we did glow in the dark bubbles - thank you Pinterest!
This past Sunday, we headed up to LA for some fun with Dom's brother Richard and some friends. It was the Inaugural Homie Olympics - a chance for all of us 29 and 30-somethings to show off our UN-athleticism.
It was so much fun! We played whiffle ball, football, kickball, dodgeball, tug of war, and more. Of course we paid for it in the days to follow with sore muscles and sunburn - Dominic's forehead is peeling for the first time in his life.
Monday we set up a Lemonade Stand at our friends house. The girls had the most fun coloring the sign, and drinking the product. It was so great to see their big smiles!
This morning, we met some friends at the beach. Eliza wasted no time getting in the water, and to my surprise, Audrey splashed in the little waves a little too.
Eliza started soccer practices every Monday and Wednesday since we've been back too! Games start in a couple weeks, so I'll post pics then. Audrey will be back to ballet classes next week, and school starts in September for both of them.
Phew!
