This and That

Last week was dubbed "Seussapalooza" at Eliza's school.  They learned all about an American election, by voting for their favorite Dr Seuss character.  They had to register to vote, there were primaries that narrowed all the characters down to 2 - the Grinch and the Lorax, they participated in a caucus and convention supporting their favorite of the 2 characters, and they held a vote on Thursday.  The winner was announced on Friday - The Lorax!

Eliza working on her poster - "Vote for the Lorax"
I got to help out in her class on Monday, while they each made posters to show support for one of the characters at the convention.  The principal played the part of the Grinch, and one of the teachers was the Lorax. There were "reporters" there to ask questions and get a bit of a debate going, then a few students were able to ask questions as well.  It was pretty cute!

Audrey playing at the park on National PB Lovers Day
Thursday March 1st was National Peanut Butter Lovers Day!  Audrey and I joined friends at the park to celebrate and play.  We got to taste some delicious peanut buttery treats - pancakes, popcorn, and a delicious Peanut Butter Apple Crumble.  I made a peanut butter bread, and took jelly to go with it.

Green Eggs and Ham
Today, Audrey and I went to another park to celebrate Dr Seuss's birthday with our play group.  Again, there were lots of delicious treats - all inspired by Dr Seuss books.  I took green eggs and ham.

Truffula fruits were a big hit...

as were the yummy Truffula Tree cake pops!

My big girl after ballet class
Audrey had her first ballet class without Eliza (who decided to quit).  Miss Leana said she did pretty well at paying attention and keeping her hands to herself (which was a big problem last week).  She is very excited to be part of the rainbow in the Wizard of Oz recital in June.  I can't wait to see how she does!
