#24 Forest Park Miniature Railroad

This historical train in Fort Worth, Texas opened on June 12th, 1959. It is a five mile loop between the Forest Park Depot and the duck pond in Trinity Park. It stops at the Trinity Park Depot long enough to pick up popcorn and drinks at the concession stand.

Kristin, David, Alec and Kyle met us to ride the train too! We boarded the train around 4:00 pm on Sunday October 10th at the Forest Park Depot. The Depot is next to the Clear Fork of the Trinity River, so the train crosses over and along the river throughout the ride. We got to see lots and lots of turtles in the river, including a really big snapping turtle that was swimming along right below us. There were also lots of people out since the weather was so beautiful, and the kids enjoyed waving to them all.

Audrey and Eliza. This train was actually full, so we waited on the next one, but took pictures while it was stopped at the depot.

The kids didn't mind the wait, since they were having so much fun playing in the dirt.

Daddy and the girls.

Audrey has a habit of going and posing for pictures after we are done.

Our train went past to turn around, so we were back on the platform waiting to board.

Here it comes!

Audrey is saying "choo choo!"

Alec and Eliza sat with me - here they're waiting for the ride to start.

Audrey sat with Daddy in the seat behind David, Kristin and Kyle.

Looks like we were really zooming along.

We tried to get all four kids on one bench, but they didn't want to squish.

Eliza decided to sit with Daddy on the way back.

Audrey was happy to sit with Alec and I. She knew where the food was.

The girls and I after the ride in front of our train - Engine #102.

The girls seemed to have a lot of fun. It was a great way to spend time as a family and with our friends. Daddy rarely gets to do these things with us, because we generally go during the week while he's working. The girls and I were all happy to have him there with us for this.
