Six Years Old

Audrey turns 6 today!  She is my crazy girl, and I just can't imagine my life without her.  Her energy is unending, and she just never stops.   Ever.    She is 43 1/2 inches tall, and weighs in around 37lbs.  She loves soccer and can't wait to play again this spring.  At school, she is in a class with 17 boys and only 8 other girls (poor Mrs. Bear).  Audrey just loves it!  All her friends are boys.  Though she is friendly to the girls as well, she just wants to play with the boys.  I think it is because they can keep up with her.

Academically, she is thriving too.  She read me a book one day in October and it brought tears to my eyes.  I didn't expect her to pick it up so quickly, because at the end of preschool she was still getting some of her letters confused.  She works hard and really loves being in school.  She was so happy when she "finally" got homework after the first month.  She brings it home and wants to sit down and work on it right away.  At my parent/teacher conference last month, Mrs. Bear had nothing but great things to say about her progress.  When they break up for "centers" and Mrs. Bear is elbows deep in an art project, she said Audrey basically runs the computer center, helping other kids if they have any problems or questions.  She also said very kindly, "If there is a silence, Audrey fills it."  Ha!  My mom was definitely not surprised to hear that after years and years of me getting in trouble for talking too much in elementary school.

Audrey's favorite colors are purple and pink.  She loves pizza and quesadillas, and complains about most other foods, but eventually finds that they aren't so bad.  She is however, the S-L-O-W-E-S-T eater on the face of the Earth, which is hilarious considering the pace at which she lives in general.  She has not lost any teeth yet, and has no signs of any loose ones.  Her recent dentist appointment went well, and she has no cavities either.  She loves loves loves Star Wars, and says that the new cartoon Star Wars Rebels is "SO not as good as the movies."  Her favorite TV show varies weekly, as she is happy watching just about anything from Sophia the First to Paw Patrol to Girl Meets World.

My girl of many faces.  She can't hide anything with that adorable face of hers - it shows every expression and thought in her head.  My favorite is her laughing smile (like in the second picture above), but a close second is her pure determination.  She is very strong-minded and when she wants something, she doesn't give up or give in.  It makes for some interesting battles of will around here, and I'm sure the teenage years will be fun.
