The Museum of Man

Eliza is on Spring Break for a month, so her teacher sent her home with an assignment.  They read Flat Stanley in class, and have been working on writing point of view, so each student had to create a "flat" character of their own.  Eliza named hers Flat Ana (yes like the Frozen princess).  She is 9 years old, likes rice and beans, swimming and soccer.  Her favorite numbers are 19 and 3, and she has a sister named Flat Elsa.  Eliza has to take Flat Ana on our adventures this month, and then write in her journal from Ana's point of view.

So today we all went to check out the Museum of Man in Balboa Park.

Audrey, Eliza and Flat Ana out front.

Overlooking the Mayan area.  The intricate carvings and other artifacts down there were all very interesting.

Flat Ana discovering footprints like a true archaeologist.
We went through the "Footsteps Through Time" exhibit with all the skeletons, skulls, and other evidence of the link between primates and man.

The Ancient Egyptian exhibit was my favorite!  The mummies were so cool to see.

The kids Egyptian Adventure area was fun for the girls.  They built a pyramid, played fishermen on the little boat, and market at the little produce stand.  They were happy to bring home a printout of their names in hieroglyphics too!

Audrey was a little young for most of the exhibits, so got bored too fast for Dom and I to read everything we would have liked, but it was a nice museum and we all had a nice visit.

Outside the weather and the flowers were beautiful and we enjoyed walking around a bit before heading out.
