Audrey's preschool class has been learning about pirates for a while, so today they got to go on a real pirate ship in the San Diego harbor. The Maritime Museum is a mix of lots of different ships to explore, but the kids all liked the pirate ship the best.
The Star of India - same ship that Russell Crowe captains in the movie Master and Commander.
The kids had fun exploring the ship, and getting to touch and try out lots of things.

Lifting 25lb bags and finding that the more ropes and pulleys, the lighter the bag seemed.

The kids got to see the Galley, the Helm, the Poop Deck, some of the ship's quarters, and more. They learned about fiddlesticks - that were used to keep the food from sliding across the table on a moving ship. Audrey's favorite part was ringing the bell on the helm.
