Science Center Fun

We got our Balboa Park Explorer passes this past week, and were excited to put them to use right away.  The passes are good at all 17 museums in the park and we have only been to a few.  The girls both picked the Fleet Science Center today, even though it is one they have already been to, so we went over there to see what was new.  After buzzing through the main gallery, we headed straight to the Tinkering Studio.

Eliza got right to work finding supplies for a project, while Audrey figured out what this room was all about.

Audrey's favorite part was this pulley system for "parachutes" and other flying objects.  After testing it a few times, she decided she just had to have a flying car.  So she helped gather some supplies, and Dominic set to work making it for her.  When it was done, Audrey made it fly over and over.  She named it Red Lightning, and insisted on bringing it home with us, even though we don't have anywhere to drop it down from.

I helped Eliza make a little fish tank for Kit (her American Girl doll).  I found the perfect clear plastic box and cut the pieces to fit inside.  Eliza made the cute fish, which she named Arnold.

Dominic decided to play with the blocks after his work was done on the flying car.  He ended up making this super tall tower.  The girls helped hand him some blocks and make a flag for the top.

The Guitar Exhibit just opened recently and was pretty cool.

The best part for the kids was this humongous guitar that they got to "play."  Dom enjoyed checking out some of the guitars they had on display.

We finished up in the main gallery where we left off, then headed home.  Looking forward to going back many times with our passes.
