We have had a busy week already and plan to stay busy through the weekend. So here's a quick overview of what we've been up to.
Monday we went to Woodglen Vista park, played with some friends, and attempted to play with the parachute - though unsuccessfully with our uncooperative kids. They were all wrapped up in the middle for a bit, they had fun running underneath when the moms lifted it up high, then they just gave up and went back to the playground.
Wednesday we went to Mission Beach. It was a beautiful, sunny day - everywhere east of the beach. We still had a ton of fun though. The clouds couldn't discourage the kiddos from jumping and splashing in the water, and playing in the sand. Audrey played trucks and splashed in a bucket of water, far from the "scary" waves. Eliza had fun digging for sand crabs with Trevor.
Today we went to the zoo with a meetup group that my friend Sarah belongs to. It was "Absolutely Apes!" We learned a lot about some of the different monkeys and apes, listened to the gibbons singing, watched the gorillas eat, and the orangutans play. At the end of the guided tour, the guides read the kids a book and gave each of them a sticker. Sarah and I took the kids to see more animals, play on the playground, and eat lunch before we went home.
Audrey watching the crocodile and all the pretty fish.
Checking out the giraffes.
I brought along the small canon point and shoot camera so the girls could take some pictures. Our theme this month for our "Give A Kid A Camera" group on Flickr is water.
Audrey took this picture, along with at least a dozen others in the Waterfowl Lagoon.
The group is open to anyone with kids who want to take pictures of nature! Click HERE. and check out THIS blog for inspiration on connecting your kids with nature.
After lunch, we checked out the meerkats lounging in the sun...
and the otters diving and swimming in the water. All the kids were super excited running back and forth with the otters - literally shrieking with joy!
Welcome back... missed your blog recently! :)
