Busy Busy Busy

January has been flying by, but now that school is back in session, I feel like I can catch up a little.  The weather has been unseasonably hot and sunny, so we have been outside enjoying it as much as possible.  Add to that, Eliza being on winter break until the 21st, and you have a recipe for fun times!

The first Tuesday of the month is always free for San Diego residents at the Natural History museum.  Usually that means Eliza is in school, so we finally had a chance to go with her.  The girls had so much fun exploring the museum.  Audrey was excited to show Eliza some of her favorite parts, including the scavenger hunt cards in some of the various exhibits, and all the buttons to push.  We are hoping to get a Balboa Park pass that's new this year, and includes all 17 museums, so we will be able to come back here often.

Audrey and her playgroup girl friends

Another day, we enjoyed a hike with our friends at Mission Trails.  We had snacks under our favorite climbing tree there, and the girls were literally running and skipping down the trail.  All the kids even stopped to play on one of the bridges - Audrey and Moira were the trolls, and the other kids had to have their permission to cross the bridge.

Audrey has been back in school 3 days a week since the 6th, so Eliza and I had a fun beach day one Wednesday.  We drove over to La Jolla, said hello to the seals on the beach, and headed down to find a spot in the sand.  It was gorgeous, the tide was going out, and some friends joined us to play too!  It was a great day, except for one jerk of a seagull that stole Eliza's peanut butter and jelly sandwich right out of her hand.  She had taken only a few bites, and was about to take another, when the seagull swooped down and took the whole thing.  He ate the rest in 2 big gulps!  Crazy!

Other big news for the month - Eliza decided she is ready to have her training wheels off of her bike.  We took her to the park one Saturday and worked on it with her, and though she is getting better, she hasn't got it down yet.  The girls and I went to the same park with our friends on MLK day as well.  Eliza tried riding her bike a little, but mostly wanted to play with her friend Brooke.  Audrey was having a great time riding her bike with Bella, Isabelle, and Moira.  Updates and video of Eliza on her bike will follow as she learns.
